A Conversation with John Cusack Following a Screening of Say Anything

06/15/2019 to 06/15/2019 - A CONVERSATION WITH JOHN CUSACK FOLLOWING A SCREENING OF SAY ANYTHING

Join John Cusack for a screening of Say Anything followed by a LIVE conversation and Q&A at Cox Business Center on June 15 regarding his career and the making of Say Anything. Roger Ebert called the movie "one of the best films of the year" when it was released. Fans will now get the opportunity to experience a moderated discussion, with John answering audience questions as well.

This is the first announced event of the Tulsa Film Series at Cox Business Center, presented by Prairie Artisan Ales.

The 1989 comedy/drama Say Anything brought popular culture the love story of Lloyd Dobler (actor John Cusack) and Diane Court (actress Ione Skye). An eternal optimist seeks the heart of a "brain trapped in the body of a game show hostess." Ranked by Entertainment Weekly as one of the greatest modern movie romances (and #11 on the list of 50 best high-school movies), Say Anything made a star out of John Cusack who went on to success in multiple films including High Fidelity, Grosse Point Blank and Being John Malkovich, among others.

Made up of 18 monologues and divided into six segments (fantasies, nightmares, hallucinations, sweet dreams, broken reveries and visions), this play uses the voices of real people to convey, with striking effectiveness, a sense of what America and its people are, both in truth and in fantasy. Ranging from the rich and famous (Ted Turner, Arnold Schwarzenegger) to the obscure (a farmer, a bellhop, a Hare Krishna disciple) to hardbitten cynics and hopeful optimists, the diverse monologues weave an evocative tapestry out of the simple truths and cogent observations that emerge when people speak their minds with honesty and candor.
